The wastewater treatment plant in Smiltynė is open to visitors: they can learn how wastewater is treated and see the equipment, and the museum runs workshops on waste sorting.
The treatment building is covered with earth and planted, like a small hill of drifted sand. One corner is left open so that visitors can look inside. A viewing path winds across the top of the hill.
